The Maldives’ Fari Islands: your cuisine guide

Our luxury travel magazine explored the Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, which has already become well-known for its diverse restaurant and culinary offerings.

With seven different culinary settings ranging from high-end dining and coastal luxury to wellness-focused dinners, guests can expect a diversified menu. Beach Shack serves shared platters and grilled seafoods, as well as buckets of blue water prawns that may be washed down with buckets of exceptional grape rosé, all inspired by the Mediterranean’s carefree ambiance and easygoing cuisines.

In the Summer Pavilion, a stunning lantern-inspired overwater setting, this modern Chinese cuisine restaurant provides modest meals. Not to be missed is their stir-fried lobster, which is designed to be shared and paired with superb Chinese teas and wine from their vast wine selection. Another upscale dining experience awaits you at IWAU, which translates to “celebrate” in Japanese. This open-air restaurant serves sake and the best sushi under a starry sky. For enthusiastic Italian cuisine aficionados, La Locanda serves fiery flavors of southern Italy in the mornings and a Sicilian fritto misto in the afternoons.

We highly recommend paying a visit to Eau Bar, which offers a relaxed yet stylish ambience. This beachside restaurant and bar offers healthy meals, tableside beverages, a hookah experience, and a nightly ritual of drums and fire. Two of the resort’s venues are located at Fari Marina, an eight-minute journey away on a dhoni, a traditional wooden fishing boat. Arabesque invites visitors on a fascinating and tasty journey via hitherto unknown cuisines from Lebanon to North India. In addition to exquisite hookahs, Turkish coffee, Moroccan tea, and imaginative beverages, dishes are provided.

The second is a street food truck that serves light Asian fare – a perfect location to stop in the middle of the day for some takeaway bao buns.

We also did not skip breakfast. You just have to see it to believe it. From baked pastries to every imaginable variety of milk and exotic fruits, a buffet sprawled across two or three rooms gives everything you could possibly want or didn’t even realize you would want. An à la carte menu is also available on request if you wish to try something more familiar.
